This type of assessment is carried out by a Qualified One Future Consultant to assess the kinship carer’s capacity is assessed by New Wave Therapy’s assessor to determine if the child’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs are meet.
The assessment will involve interviews with the prospective kinship carer, the child, and other family members or individuals who are involved in the child’s life. The assessment will also include an evaluation of the kinship carer’s home environment, financial stability, and support network.

WHAT IS A FOSTER CARE ASSESSMENT?
A Foster Care Assessment is a process that is used to evaluate the suitability of a prospective foster parent or family to provide care for a child who has been removed from their birth family due to abuse, neglect, or other issues.
The assessment includes interviews with the prospective foster parent(s), background checks, and a home study. The home study involves an evaluation of the foster home environment, including the physical living conditions and the emotional and social support available to the child. The purpose of the Foster Care Assessment is to identify any potential risks or challenges that may arise during the placement and to develop a plan to address these issues.
This then can ensure that the prospective foster parent(s) can provide a safe and nurturing environment for the child and that the child’s needs will be met while in foster care.
